Elke Weickelt im Gespräch: Zwischen Rhein-Neckar und Amazonas
In the organizer's words:
Elke Weickelt is an artist with deep roots in the Rhine-Neckar region. Her paintings have no titles, only numbers—what you see is up to you. One thing in particular has shaped her visual language: travel. Stays in Southeast Asia and South America—often alone and lasting for months—have led her to a minimalist, archaic-seeming visual world that straddles the line between figuration and abstraction.
In 2025, the Mannheim Artists’ Estates Foundation acquired Weickelt’s estate. In this interview, she talks about her journey to art, travel as a source of inspiration, and the evolution of her work over the decades.
We offer exclusive insights into the estate and showcase the artist’s works on site!
