Emerging from the Shadows - Rediscovering the Legacies of Weinberg and Korngold
In the organizer's words:
Born in Warsaw and Vienna, respectively, and connected by their Jewish heritage, composers Mieczysław Weinberg and Erich Wolfgang Korngold were forced to flee the Holocaust; Weinberg found refuge in the USSR, while Korngold reinvented himself in Hollywood. Director Veronika Emily Pohl traces their contrasting lives and neglected legacies, with the help of conductor Constantine Orbelian and cellist Kristina Reiko Cooper, who are committed to bringing their music the recognition it deserves.
