Endstation Sehnsucht
In the organizer's words:
Great cinema as literary ballet
A tragic story of loss, love and violence: the impoverished southern belle Blanche DuBois has experienced the decline of her wealthy family and numerous strokes of fate and now seeks refuge with her younger sister in New Orleans. In a cramped and aggressive living environment, she loses touch with reality.
Based on the literary classic of the same name, John Neumeier created his version of "Endstation Sehnsucht" for the Stuttgart Ballet in 1983. Now the ballet is also celebrating its premiere at the Düsseldorf Opera House.
