Enteignet, verkauft – restituiert? Die Sammlung von Carl und Laura Sonntag – Gespräch

Carl and Laura Sonntag had a considerable library and art collection, which was expropriated during the National Socialist era. Laura Sonntag was Jewish and had to leave Germany with her children, whereupon all their possessions were sold at the Klemm auction house in 1941. Various municipal institutions acquired works of art and books from the family's estate.

In a discussion with Korina Kilian, Leipzig City Library, and Ulrike Saß, Museum of Fine Arts, the various entries into the collection and the handling of the objects after 1945 in the respective institutions will be explained and discussed.
