Erzählungen | Kronberg Festival 2026 „Courage!“
In the organizer's words:
Not every form of courage is loud or heroic. Sometimes it lies in tenderness, in imagination, and in the courage to make room for the quiet.
Steven Isserlis, one of the most distinguished cellists of our time, has assembled an extraordinary chamber music ensemble for “Erzählungen” (Tales). Together with Pierre Génisson, Irène Duval, Sào Soulez Larivière, Anna Han, and Connie Shih, he presents a program that unfolds like a series of musical stories.
Beethoven’s “Gassenhauer Trio” combines playful elegance with instantly memorable melodies. Schumann’s Romances and Fairy-Tale Stories open up poetic spaces between dream and conversation, while Fauré’s late piano trio moves the listener with its concentrated expressiveness and ethereal transparency.
An exquisite evening of chamber music exploring the art of listening—intimate, multifaceted, and full of narrative imagination.
Concert introduction at 6:45 p.m. with Dr. Norbert Gertsch (G. Henle Verlag).
