Voice workshop for FLINTAQ*
Part of the "Precarious Pleasures" laboratory
For all FLINTAQ* voice enthusiasts. No previous experience necessary!
Welcome to Precarious Pleasures, an uncertain pleasure. This lab asks with three workshops: What does a queer:feminist dance space need? How can we appropriate precarious conditions with voice and movement in order to strengthen ourselves & create a courageous space away from patriarchy? It's about the radical pleasure of dancing and sound.
With pleasure through touch, movement and improvisation, we search for somatic (new) vocal spaces. How can I be curious and exploratory with my voice and other voices? What does sound feel like? Where can pleasure caves open up, where vulnerability? How can patterns, blockages and judgments that lie on our voices be queered? We will play with breathing, humming, sighing, tones, simple improvised melodies, call & response, rhythm and our vocal bodies. Through collective "deep listening" and the witnessing of all voices, we want to open our ears to the texture, tonality, color and mood of vocalities: Be it raspy, roaring, brittle, melodic.
*FLINTAQ stands for: Women, lesbians, intersex, non-binary, trans, agender & queer people
