Lea has applied to a singing talent show. The producer asks, “Who are you, and what makes you unique?” Lea doesn’t know. And so she begins to search for a suitable sense of self.

In her hometown in Thuringia, the museum is currently undergoing a costly renovation funded by the EU, and her family’s guesthouse is struggling to stay afloat financially. Lea’s family consists of her parents, Matze and Rieke—who have just separated because Rieke is pregnant by another man—and who are still quite unaccustomed to their new family dynamics.

And her grandparents, who also have enough problems with each other and with their Waldhotel, which, in this region with few visitors, costs more than it brings in.
Then there’s her Aunt Kati, who, with her independence, is a role model for Lea, but who, as the museum director, isn’t exactly making any friends in the small provincial town.
Lea’s best friend Bonny has her mind on something else entirely, as she’s newly in love with Lea’s cousin, the activist Edgar.
