Everyone's Ghost Bike: Erinnerung & Fahrrad im öffentlichen Raum
In the organizer's words:
What does an abandoned bicycle tell us about memory, mobility, and urban life?
To kick off the new event series “Experiencing Bicycle Space—Memory, Negotiation, Participation,” Velonia e.V. invites you to an open evening centered on a special memorial project: A rediscovered “ghost bike” has been redesigned as a public memorial site and serves as a symbolic reminder of cyclists and bike travelers who have lost their lives in accidents—whose stories often remain unseen.
Katrin Müller will present the participatory remembrance project and invite attendees to share their own thoughts and perspectives. Following this, Horst Kraus (ADFC Cologne) will speak about the history and significance of ghost bikes as a form of remembrance culture in public spaces.
The event combines inspiration, exchange, and discussion. Together, we’d like to explore how public spaces are experienced, remembered, and shaped by different people.
Free admission. All interested individuals are warmly welcome.
