EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY

Explosions In The Sky on "The End" tour in Germany in November Explosions In The Sky have been making their music for almost two and a half decades. The four musicians who are always the same - guitarists Munaf Rayani, Mark Smith and Michael James (bass and guitar) and drummer Chris Hrasky - release their instrumental-only albums, go on tour and then work on their next masterpiece. They characterize themselves as a rock band, no matter what genres and styles are attributed to them, and have stated from the beginning that none of them can sing. That's why they are often classified under prog rock. But that would actually be much too short-sighted. In truth, these four nice guys from the sultry Texas capital of Austin are the most sincere people you could ever meet. At the same time, they play the most passionate and powerful instrumental music you will ever hear. Their beautiful melodies, which are equal parts romance and tragedy, tend to erupt in swirling walls of noise, and as one of the most intense live bands of all time, their sound proves to be exactly as much of a fireworks display as their name suggests. It's been 20 years since the release of their landmark album, "The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place," on which they laid out their musical vision in all its glory. On five tracks, none under eight minutes long, they gave themselves all the time and opportunity to present their sound in widescreen, telling stories without words. Almost as a matter of course, one would like to say, the Texans also work on soundtracks and their pieces are used in documentaries or films, because Explosions In The Sky can congeal thoughts, feelings, hunches, imaginations into musical images. In summer they will tour the USA to celebrate the anniversary of the record, and in November they will come to us in Germany as part of their "The End" tour.presented by VISIONS. - The End Tour 2023
