Ezé

Ezé is a multifaceted black artist from Burkina Faso who celebrates his migration background. Born in Ouagadougou, Ezékiel Wendtoin Nikiema, alias Ezé, only became black in Germany. He is not referring to his skin color, but to the political dimension of being black in Germany. The multi-award-winning artist uses his music to empower himself in a society in which black Africans are pigeonholed in many ways, which he powerfully breaks out of. With his new DIY album "Schwarz wurde Ich", he once again becomes a bridge builder between people and doesn't mince his words: without hiding from painful topics, he writes about his own experiences full of punchlines, clarity and, in between, humorous irony. His fourth album is Ezé's most political and at the same time most personal album to date. It also opens a new musical chapter: rhythmically, "Schwarz wurde Ich" goes back to his Afro roots. Dynamic and danceable sounds kiss the heart of cosmopolitanism and are primarily inspired by Afro-beats, Afro-trap, Amapiano, drill and West African vibes. Ezé sings and raps mainly in German about racism, flight and migration, the climate crisis, masculinity and vulnerability. As usual, the post-migrant album will be multilingual.
