Together we make cyanotypes! Düsseldorf artist Bärbel Möllmann will show how paper can be treated to make it light-sensitive so that parts of plants or found objects from the palace park can be depicted on it in sunlight. Each participant designs their own cyanotypes, e.g. individual cards, and can give free rein to their creativity.
The special exhibition Retrospective! A photographic history of Benrath Palace from 1870 to the present day is the first exhibition on the photographic history of Benrath Palace and Park and traces the photographic events of the last 150 years. It presents the many different areas in which photography has been used: from monument preservation to tourism, everyday family photography, political and public events to journalism, advertising and art. Many of the photographs on display are by renowned photographers, but the exhibition also includes numerous private photographs from the past 100 years. Over one hundred people and families responded to an appeal and provided almost 300 snapshots.
Each participant receives their own photographic paper and can take the results home with them. The works can be collected the next day due to the drying process.
Duration: 11 am - 4 pm, for (grand)parents and children aged 6 and over
Note: A separate admission ticket is required.
