The FatJazz format in the JazzHall combines two perspectives of contemporary jazz: a first set with formative voices of the scene, followed by current artistic positions from the Jazz Master of the HfMT Hamburg.
For two decades, the Quintet Jean-Paul has stood for independent modern jazz, characterized by the dialogical interplay of Gabriel Coburger and Ken Norris, whose voice acts as an equal, improvising instrument. A finely balanced rhythm section opens up spaces between post bop and freer forms. In the second set, the JazzHall Ensemble develops independent compositions and complex, contemporary arrangements under Coburger's direction.
The concert takes place as part of the HfMT Summer Festival and is therefore free of charge. Weather permitting, it will be held as an open-air event.
