Fennel & Friends
In the organizer's words:
Summery, melancholic indie-folk from Regensburg and Leipzig.
The Regensburg-based indie-folk band Fennel & Friends has become part of the family, so to speak, at the Regensburg Center for Young Culture. From performances at the Bürgerfest or as a support act, to guest appearances at the open mic night “Home is where the Art is,” to film productions as part of the annual short film workshop—visitors have already had the chance to experience all of this with this incredibly likable group. On Friday, July 10, 2026, they’ll finally play their first headlining show at W1.
With a blend of vulnerability, melancholy, and exuberance, the band enchants the audience: With a gentle voice, framed by delicate harmonies and warm electric guitar tones, their music feels like a comforting embrace. Sonically inspired by artists like The Backseat Lovers, Bon Iver, and Novo Amor, they often tell stories—sometimes sad, sometimes hopeful—about friendship, love, social anxiety, and growing up. With brand-new songs that feel like a warm summer breeze and make your feet want to dance the moment they hit your ears, Fennel & Friends are now kicking off their indie rock era.
The concert evening will be opened by a regular at W1 who is as well-known as she is beloved: Emi Lia. She makes music for those moments when you pause to reflect. Her songs feel like a familiar late-night conversation—somewhere between indie pop, folk, and that indescribable something. The Leipzig-based musician sings of new beginnings, longing, and the little things that burn themselves into your memory, even though—or perhaps precisely because—they were quiet.
