Ferienveranstaltung: Japanische Buchbindung

In our vacation workshop "Japanese book binding" at the German Book and Writing Museum in Leipzig, we will create books with you.

Japanese binding is characterized by a decorative stitch pattern on the spine and covers. It is sewn around the cover, not only around the spine, but also at the top and bottom. To complete the pattern, you have to sew through the same hole several times. Start sewing in the middle so that the knot is not visible at the end. The paper is folded in the middle and placed on top of each other. The book cover can be made of cardboard or thick paper and you can decorate the cover.
