In the organizer's words:
A volcano is never just a mountain. In his immersive audiovisual installation “KRAKATOA,” filmmaker and artist Carlos Casas explores the Indonesian volcano as a cinematic subject, an ecological threshold, and a living myth. At the center of the story is Kesuma, a young fisherman whose journey takes him from the sea to the island and into the imaginary interior of the Earth. The film moves through shifting modes of perception—from underwater light and drone footage to thermal imagery—and culminates in a sound composition derived from seismic data. Produced in collaboration with the Munich Film Festival.
