Karl May, from skittle boy to great mystic

It was Arno Schmidt who elevated the Saxon storyteller to the status of great mystic. Whole generations of schoolchildren - and adults - have grown up with his books. Even if the younger generation's love of reading has turned to other books, channels such as 3Sat and others still devote entire theme days to the film adaptations of Winnetou and Kara ben Nemsi (even if the films have very little to do with the books).

Fischer & Friends are once again bringing the "Mayster" to the stage. Winnetou, Old Shatterhand, Hadschi Halef Omar and lesser-known heroes such as Wurzelsepp meet us in a staged reading. We accompany the author to the bowling alley, to prison and on his way to fame; roam the Wild West and the desert with him and follow him through his symbolist novels to his sermons on peace, which seem more relevant than ever today.
