LANGE NACHT DER ASTRONOMIE 2026 - Beobachtung der Sonnenfinsternis

On August 12, 2026, during the nationwide LONG NIGHT OF ASTRONOMY, we’re offering you:
Safe LIVE observation of the major partial solar eclipse (88%) using telescopes equipped with protective filters. Simultaneous viewing in white light of the Sun’s surface and in red light of the ionized hydrogen in the Sun’s atmosphere. The observation will also be supported by digital “SmartScopes” and protective glasses for guests. Additional program highlights:
- Projection of the eclipse’s progression onto a screen
- The CCAT submillimeter telescope in Chile (guest presentation by SFB1601 at the University of Cologne)
- Building simple spectrometers yourself (guest presentation by SFB1601 at the University of Cologne)
- Additional hands-on astrophysics experiments (presented by SFB1601 at the University of Cologne)
