In the organizer's words:

Included in the admission price. As part of the exhibition*So wie wir sind*:

Featuring works by more than 100 artists and artist groups from different eras and places around the world,“As We Are”opens up diverse perspectives on contemporary art across 2,500 m².

There are thematic areas exploring representations of the self or perceptions of landscape, images of Germany, articulated empowerment or manifested power hierarchies, new perspectives on art history or everyday life, nationalism or surveillance, as well as vertical form or the diversity of Blackness. Art-historical questions are thus just as much in focus as sociopolitical discourses. Attitudes from the 1960s and 1970s are further developed in the present; renowned figures are challenged by young, yet-to-be-discovered voices; and perspectives of classical art history are subverted.

Running through the exhibition as a unifying thread is art’s potential to develop resistant perspectives on the familiar and to offer surprising viewpoints on what connects us all. This gives rise to exciting, humorous, poetic, and radical ways of approaching the questions of our time through art.
