At our G Sessions, musicians from a wide variety of scenes come together. What unites them? Complete openness. No genre boundaries—just a 360° setup that brings musical diversity right into the heart of the crowd and fosters a sense of connection. Hosted by the G Sessions house band OUTERNATIONALS, every evening thrives on spontaneity, a spirit of experimentation, and special guests.

This time, we’re featuring KOOB, one of the most exciting new projects on the Berlin music scene. KOOB is the project of Belarus-born singer and composer Valeryia Dele. In 2020, she moved to Berlin, where she immersed herself in the music scene, began studying jazz, and founded her band KOOB in 2023. Her debut album, “That Tree,” earned her several awards at jazz competitions and paved the way for her to perform on stages across Europe.

KOOB moves between jazz, avant-garde, soul, and groove, blending these influences into a sonic language that simultaneously unsettles, moves, and surprises. Dele’s spoken word blends linguistic improvisation and rhythmic wordplay à la Jayne Cortez with the funky attitude of Meshell Ndegeocello and contemporary hip-hop.

Her latest album, “Off Head,” captures raw jazz improvisations, spoken word, and experimental sounds—recorded live, without overdubs or post-production editing. Alternating between explosive energy and tender introspection, “Off Head” explores themes such as urban frustration, mental heaviness, and fleeting moments of fragile calm. The result is an intense, cross-genre portrait of everyday chaos and emotional honesty that unfolds its full power through a raw, immediate live aesthetic.

Maura playfully navigates between soul-infused vocals and precise rap flows. The Berlin-based singer, songwriter, and MC blends soul, jazz, hip-hop, and indie pop into a sonic universe where narrative lyrics are just as important as intricate arrangements and rhythmic grooves. Raised on hip-hop and influenced by producers like J Dilla, she taught herself the ways of soul, jazz, and experimental sounds, making her an exception in a scene often shaped by classical music training and college education.

In 2021, she released the album “Grimus” in collaboration with Fred Red and Malik Diao. With her solo album “Mother of Chaos” (2024) and her latest EP “Shameful Days,” she continues on her musical journey, blending personal, social, and political themes with stylistically open-ended songwriting.
