Gedenkveranstaltung an den Völkermord an Rom:nja und Sinti:zze

Historical responsibility in Cologne too
Over 500,000 Roma and Sinti were murdered throughout Germany's territory, particularly in the Balkans, during the Nazi era. To this day, the "Samudaripen" (Romani: complete murder) is hardly in the consciousness of society as a whole.
After a keynote speech by Magdalena Lovric on Nazi persecution in Croatia, the collaborators who worked there and the culture of remembrance, Sami Dzemailovski from Carmen e.V., Kenan Emini from the Bundesromaverband e.V., Magdalena Lovric and a representative from the association Rom e.V. (N.N.) will discuss remembrance and the lack of political and social recognition in Germany.
Moderation: Radoslav Ganev (RomAnity e.V.).
Musical accompaniment: J. Heilig and S. Hartmann
The event is free of charge, will take place on May 21, 2026 from 7 p.m. in the Cologne VHS Forum on Neumarkt and is a cooperation between NS-DOK, Cologne Adult Education Center, Cologne Municipal Integration Center, EL-DE-Haus e.V. Association, Melanchthon Academy Cologne and Rom e.V.
The event is supported by the Evangelical Church of Cologne and Region, Carmen e.V., the Bundesromaverband e.V., RomAnity e.V., the Rautenstrauch-Joest-Museum, the Kölnische Gesellschaft für christlich-jüdische Zusammenarbeit e.V., the Katholische Bildungswerk Köln, the DOMiD, the Intercultural Centers, the Germania Judaica, the Centrum Schwule Geschichte, and ikult e.V..
