In the organizer's words:
On this city tour through Neukölln, we will get to know a wide range of solidarity-based Berlin initiatives. The focus is on questions of immediate coexistence: How can neighborhoods be strengthened, housing rights secured and public spaces designed together? And how can we create places where people listen to each other and stand up for each other?
At the same time, we are looking at larger social contexts. The challenges of our time do not stop at neighborhood boundaries. No one lives alone, and global developments affect people in different ways. Solidarity therefore also means recognizing the connections between the local and the global and taking responsibility for one another.
This includes opposing exclusion and discrimination and standing up for a just society based on human rights. Topics of the tour include
- Gender equality and democratic participation,
- a life that everyone can afford,
- a joint commitment against all forms of racism - regardless of whether people are labeled as Jewish, Muslim, Arab, Sinti or Roma, Black people or in any other way,
- peaceful coexistence in diversity, free from fear and exclusion,
- a vibrant democracy that grows from below, is supported by many and benefits everyone.
We look at who is already committed to these goals in Neukölln and what successes have already been achieved. Where is there still a need for action?
We will also take a look at the history of solidarity: who has stood up for others in difficult times? Who remained true to their convictions even under the conditions of National Socialism? And what can we learn from this for the present?
