Goethe’s original, unpolished fragment from his Sturm und Drang period depicts a young Dr. Faust, driven in equal measure by emotion and genius, as he soars to great heights and then plummets. This lively fairground spectacle, featuring puppetry and masquerade, is complemented by live acoustic music and juxtaposes dramatic and comedic elements.
