Gov't Mule

Gov't Mule was originally a side project of the Allman Brothers, which singer and guitarist Warren Haynes and bassist Allen Woody founded together with drummer Matt Abts in 1994. In the meantime, a whole universe has grown out of the quartet - Danny Louis has been with them on keyboards and guitar for about 20 years. Recently, the approximately 20th record "Peace... Like A River" was released, the critics were once again enthusiastic and the band has once again set out on a new path. This time the classic rock elements clearly dominate. You can hear from Cream to Beatles incredibly many influences out and rarely were the Americans so melodic on the road.

In short, the studio album is the perfect contrast program to the predecessor "Heavy Load Blues", where the title is program with 13 fantastic and downright classic blues tracks and the complete complexity and beauty of the genre is covered. But Gov't Mule are not afraid of anything and have, for example, with "Dark Side Of The Mule" already recorded a pure Pink Floyd cover album full of rock. But much more important is what the guys do live. On this planet you would be hard pressed to find a more convincing jam band that is so firm in every style of American rock in the broader sense. Gov't Mule can, if they want, sound like The Eagles, Buddy Guy, Grateful Dead or Lynyrd Skynyrd on the same night and immediately fall back into their very own style. Instrumental perfection meets great musical inspiration and fabulous improvisational skills. Every performance of Gov't Mule sounds different, not only because of the huge repertoire the band has developed, but because every evening is different, every audience, every room and its sound. You can probably spend the rest of your life comparing the individual versions of certain songs. But of course it's much better to be there live when the quartet is on stage.
