GRANDMAS HOUSE + STÄDTISCHE MANIEREN

PICK OF THE DAY

You cannot miss this event.

In the organizer's words:

Slow Club Freiburg presents: GRANDMAS HOUSE + URBAN MANNERS

GRANDMA'S HOUSE is Bristol's best and loudest 4-piece band.
The punk trio, consisting of Yasmin Berndt (vocals, guitar), Poppy Dodgson (vocals, drums) and Zoë Zinsmeister (bass), refuse to be pigeonholed and have come to shake up people's perceptions with their intelligent, stylish and raw take on rock music and an unforgettable live show.

Grandmas House combine their love of post-punk with surfy melodies to create a sound that draws you right in.
Known for their raw guitar riffs, pounding basslines, aggressive drums and dry lyrics, they may be compared to artists like Courtney Barnett, The Slits or Motörhead, but their sound is unmistakably and entirely their own.

On their self-titled debut EP, the band explore themes such as anti-establishment and anti-patriarchy, as well as the highs and lows of queer love, all told with a playful dash of cheekiness and irony.

Grandma's House has already performed on stage with IDLES, Katy J Pearson, The Blinders, TV Priest and others.

URBAN MANNERS
jump head first.
Provocative guitars at an angle, massive walls of sound, sudden eruptions and reduced directness, linked by an untameable, playful voice - Städtische Manieren create music that challenges, constantly reinvents itself and doesn't get out of your head so quickly.

They mix modern experimental rock with 90s alternative, avant-pop and a pinch of post-punk. In doing so, they make it their mission to constantly break existing patterns and forms and weave them together in new ways.
Live, this gets under your skin.
You are hurled from one world of sound into the next, no seatbelt
safety belt, no standstill. The body wants to dance but doesn't know how. Until you forget everything you've learned so far and simply surrender.

Urban Manners begins at the end of 2022 in Berlin, where Alda, Till, Enna and Till meet in the jazz scene.
A short time later, they spread out across Germany but continued to work on the band, playing in various underground venues and honing their sound.

"Posterchild" is released in October 2025. The debut album immerses you in the weird world of Städtische Manieren. Explosive yet introspective, they talk about pent-up anger, reflection without change and physicality, clearly demonstrating their
clearly demonstrate their narrative talent and musical craft. Following the release, they will play various shows in Germany, including opening for Lawn Chair and Andreya Casablanca, and are part of the About Pop 2026 line-up.
