Großfiguren bauen – für Paraden, Umzüge und kreativen Straßenprotest

In the organizer's words:

No matter what we take to the streets for or against: Large figures add wit and creativity to parades, processions and protests. They are funny and playful, but can also be fearful, angry and furious. They allow contexts to become images, approach viewers, can make them smile and make them think - and they certainly attract attention!

Inspired, among other things, by the construction and playing methods of large-scale figures from the Bread & Puppet Theater, the participants in the weekend workshop build large-scale figures together, which are made of simple materials (papier-mâché, wood, fabric) and can be carried and played by one or more people. An online meeting will be held beforehand to introduce the workshop and discuss initial ideas.

About the course leader:
The workshop leader Marc Amann is a qualified psychologist, action trainer, action story collector and as such is on the move in social movements between creative protest, participation and solidarity economies. He published the book "go. stop. act! Die Kunst des kreativen Strassenprotests" (go. stop. act! The art of creative street protest) and likes to bring large-scale political puppets onto the streets with his puppet theater project Trojas Puppenkasten.
