The Portuguese singer and cellist Beatriz Picas, the Costa Rican percussionist and drummer Nelson Briceno and the Freiburg Hammond player Thomas Bauser will embark on a very special musical journey on the Hammond Jazz Night evening of the Freiburg Jazz Festival 2026.

Beatriz Picas recently became known to Freiburg audiences through her collaboration with Murat Coşkun and impresses both as a singer and as a cellist in a wide variety of genres with her sensitive playing and a voice that can be heard in a wide range of shades.

Nelson Briceno initially studied classical percussion, but his Costa Rican roots mean that he is not only familiar with the entire Latin style, but also guarantees rhythmic finesse in all areas of jazz and world music.

Together with Thomas Bauser, who will not only be playing the analog Hammond organ on this evening, but also the acoustic grand piano, the three protagonists will embark on a musical journey that spans a wide range of jazz, Latin, world music and more.

Following the Hammond Jazz Night, the Jazz Night - Jamsession traditionally takes place from 22:00: jamming together into the night.

The Jazz Festival is a cooperation between E-WERK Freiburg and jazzhaus Freiburg. The Freiburg Jazz Festival is funded by the city of Freiburg and the state of Baden-Württemberg and sponsored by Sparkasse Freiburg - Nördlicher Breisgau and the Ganter brewery.
