Double bassist and composer Renaud Garcia-Fons embodies a unique personality - a true musical traveler who switches effortlessly between jazz, classical and world music. As a virtuoso soloist, he has established himself as one of the leading figures of the contemporary double bass. His exceptional bowing, his innovative use of spiccato and his choice of a five-string double bass have made him known and highly regarded worldwide.

By combining Eastern and Western influences, Garcia-Fons found his own way - a perfect balance that shapes an unmistakable style that is recognizable from the very first notes. Over the years, he has built an impressive career, characterized by albums that have been widely acclaimed in both the jazz and world music scenes. His major works include Oriental Bass (1997), Linea Del Sur (2010), Méditerranées (2012), Le Souffle des Cordes (2021) - a testament to his passion for stringed instruments - and Farangi (2019), a project in collaboration with Claire Antonini on lute and theorbo, which further reveals the diversity of his influences.

In 2024, he continued his musical exploration with Blue Maqam, a new album that forges harmonic links between Eastern and Western musical traditions. For this project, he is accompanied by his daughter Solea Garcia-Fons (vocals), Stéphan Caracci and Jean-Luc Di Fraya, who add new colors and dimensions to his musical universe.

To this day, Renaud Garcia-Fons continues to push the boundaries of the double bass and music in general. His work inspires a new generation of musicians and music lovers worldwide.
