In the organizer's words:

Host: Tanja Handels

Munich’s sister city relationship with Harare, the capital of Zimbabwe, is celebrating its 30th anniversary, and we’re joining in the celebration. World-renowned authors such as NoViolet Bulawayo, Tsitsi Dangarembga, and Petina Gappah, as well as young talents and classics waiting to be discovered.

Translators Patricia Klobusiczky and Jan Schönherr (who were recently honored with the Bavarian
Translator Fellowship ) will give us insight into the country and its literature and talk about the challenges, pitfalls, and joys of conveying Zimbabwe’s linguistic and cultural nuances into German.

Advance ticket sales begin on September 1, 2026, at 10 a.m.

Organizers: Literaturhaus Foundation // Munich Translators’ Forum //
