The cult rock musical "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" went from an off-Broadway insider tip to a hit on Broadway itself in just a few years. In 2023, Hedwig, the "globally ignored queen of glam rock" finally conquers the hearts of Augsburg audiences - with long-time acting ensemble member Thomas Prazak in the leading role. The live music is provided by Stefan Leibold, Jonas Horche, Tilman Herpichböhm and Niklas Rehle as the band "The Angry Inch".

Hedwig, the queen of glam rock, is coming to Augsburg on her tour! Together with her band The Angry Inch, she will be giving one of her rousing concerts. Between the songs, which - sometimes rock numbers, sometimes country ballads - tell of her life and the search for her own identity, she gets closer to the audience than ever before.

The musical, which premiered in New York in 1998, has written a unique success story.

First shown off-Broadway, with John Cameron Mitchell as Hedwig, it moved on to the big screen just a few years later and was adapted as a film. The work also enjoyed international success, both as a play and as a film. It finally premiered on Broadway in 2014, starring Neil Patrick Harris and winning four Tony Awards. This is just the latest proof of the cult status that the rock musical and its main character, the drag queen Hedwig, have achieved.
