Heidelberger HardChor: Männerschicksale XII - Nicht mein Zirkus
In the organizer's words:
The world of the circus ring is not a topic for the Heidelberg HardChor; on the contrary: Under the title “Not My Circus,” the all-male ensemble, led by conductor Bernhard Bentgens, once again takes to the high wire of men’s destinies. There, the singers balance between intellectual pirouettes and emotional low blows, juggling their own existential themes: wanderlust and relationship frustrations, managing emotions and blow-dried hairstyles, the battle over the milk frother in the office, and, last but not least, the question of how to actually pronounce “Stracciatella” with your mouth full.
Along the way, the HardChor conjures the magic of music with songs by Queen, David Bowie, Danger Dan, Gianna Nannini, Rio Reiser, Herbert Grönemeyer, Bernhard Bentgens, Bill Withers, and the Fine Young Cannibals.
“Nicht mein Zirkus” is the HardChor’s eleventh program, in which beautiful vocal acrobatics blend with whimsical, humorous lyrics from the HardChor’s lyric workshop—just like a Stracciatella ice cream.
