Niko is in his late twenties and said goodbye to his studies some time ago. Since then, he has been living in the day, drifting sleeplessly through the streets of his city and wondering about the people around him. Niko is a flâneur and listener, to whom people tell their stories. He observes them with quiet curiosity as they go about their daily lives. Until this turbulent day: his girlfriend breaks up with him, his father cuts him off and a psychologist diagnoses him with "emotional imbalance". A strange beauty called Julika confronts him with the wounds of their shared past, his new neighbor pours his heart out to him over schnapps and meatballs and there seems to be no more "normal" coffee in the whole town.
