Bertram and Isolde, an older couple from Oldenburg, want to treat themselves to a really nice short getaway in Heidelberg. Maybe that will help clear away the emotional fog hanging over their marriage. The boutique hotel isn’t all that great for the money they’re paying; but the two have already found a new favorite Italian restaurant. The restaurant, full of charm, is located on an old riverboat on the Neckar.

As their marriage visibly falls apart over the course of the week, their evening trips to the restaurant ship become more and more of a disappointment, a punishment, and a living hell. The devilish forces burst into their everyday life with devastating power, culminating in a catastrophe—all set to the old-school pop hit “Memories of Heidelberg” on endless repeat.
