Florian Astor starts his career early at a DAX-listed company. Between two rungs on the career ladder, he plans to take a six-week break in New Zealand. But his need for change and new experiences becomes so great even before he leaves that he decides to quit his job completely, give up his apartment and cut all security lines. Then he sets off: with a rucksack and tent, he hikes for five months through the whole of New Zealand, from the southern tip to the northernmost point. The land of the Kiwis inspires him with breathtaking nature and touching hospitality, but he also experiences despondency and total exhaustion, suffers a dislocated shoulder, dozens of wasp stings and a broken ankle - in short: his will to persevere is put to the test along the way. At the northern end of New Zealand, the realization dawns on Florian that it was never about arriving, because the hike on the wonderful Te Araroa Trail takes him to a place that is not on any map: To himself!
