Do holes have a shape at all or are they determined solely by their surroundings? This can be seen in this hole at Waidmarkt. It can be explained by its context, the historical one with the subway construction, the geological one with gravel, sand and water and the planning one with the collapse as the basis of its existence.
Author Martin Stankowski and artist Boris Sieverts invite you to take a subterranean walk BEHIND THE WALL. STORIES UNDER AND ABOVE THE WAIDMARKT.
Panorama pavilion at the site of the archive collapse
Commissioned by the City of Cologne
Andre Dekker from the artist group Observatorium and his team will be in the pavilion until June 29 so that the people of Cologne can write down, draw or tell their stories for the LOGBUCH DER ZWISCHENZEIT. The Rotterdam-based group Observatorium has realized numerous works of art in public spaces throughout Europe.
In a temporary archive, they document how the collapse of the archives at Waidmarkt has influenced the attitude to life of the people of Cologne to this day. The collected documents will be inventoried and handed over to the Historical Archive of the City of Cologne as a legacy.
Opening hours: from 06.05. to 29.06., 12-18 h, daily except Mondays
