For Mabel Tanaka (voice in the English original: Piper Curda), nature is inextricably linked to the people she loves. She is particularly fond of a forest clearing where she often took her grandmother. There, she can still find peace and escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. But this little gem on the outskirts of Beaverton is soon to be a thing of the past. Mayor Jerry Generazzo (Jon Hamm) is in the midst of an election campaign and hopes to secure his reelection primarily through a mega-project: the construction of a highway. The highway is set to be built right through the forest—of all places—and in the process, it will destroy Mabel’s beloved clearing. To thwart these plans, Mabel hatches a bold scheme. Her college professor, Dr. Sam (Kathy Najimy), has developed a technology that allows a person’s consciousness to be transferred into robotic animals.
