The musical roots of the six-piece Leipzig band HOTEL RIMINI can be described as widely ramified, even without botanical expertise. Electric guitar, double bass and drums mingle with cello and violin, piano and acoustic guitar meet effects units, a French horn used sporadically or an old Casio. The German lyrics by singer Julius Forster are dedicated to the crocodile tears of urban affluence problematics, coming to terms with the past on public transport or failing to cope with the brutalities of everyday life.
In the summer of 2022, they released their first EP "Die Zeit schlägt mich tot, aber ich schlag zurück", which met with a very positive media response. This was followed by concerts across Germany in small clubs and at various festivals. Her debut album will now be released this fall.
"Elegant chanson pop with strings and horns, a bit like Element of Crime, but with lyrics for the Tinder generation. Only a handful of people came to one of their first gigs at the Knust this year, but they can now claim to have witnessed the beginning of something big." - Die Zeit -
"August is disappointing
and, as always, much worse than last year
I feel a pulling in my knee
And I'm shaking dandruff from my hair"
Not only the cover of this EP is beautiful. I highly recommend the brilliant music of Hotel Rimini.
- Jan Müller (Tocotronic) -
"There are not many groups in the German music world that can compose and play songs with such a line-up. Stylistically, the music draws partly from the past and yet the songs seem contemporary. That's another thing that makes Hotel Rimini so interesting, so that you can't wait to hear the group's first full-length album." - Deutschlandfunk Kultur -
Hotel Rimini are:
Julius Forster, Paul Pötsch (Trümmer), Annegret Enderle, Valentin Link (KUF), Paul-Jakob Dinkelacker (Fabian Simon & The Moon Machine) and Paula Schieferecke
