Ich, ich, ich!

A cat that dies immediately after its only appearance, a psychiatrist's surgery, a woman who needs help, a self-absorbed doctor: at the beginning of the comic opera Ich, ich, ich! by composer Raquel García-Tomás, we meet the desperate Klothilde. It's not just the death of her cat that's bothering her, but also ... But then the psychiatrist Dr. Johannes Sturm interrupts his patient again! He turns out to be the typical Mansplainer, who can't leave a word or thought of his new patient unanswered, knows everything better and has a textbook answer for every question Klothilde asks. But what has actually happened so far slowly unfolds: a fateful day on which not only Klothilde's cat tragically died. We soon learn that Klothilde works as a cultural manager. And off we go into the shark tank of vanity of super-authentic artists, attention-hungry success bloggers and convoluted esoteric gurus. At the same time, a trip of scenic flashbacks: from the street to the hotel, to the vernissage, to the funeral, to the meditation group. Accompanied by music that is at times comic-like, then again in love with quotations, the illnesses of our time - pathological self-absorption, the urge to sell out online, materialism, misrelationships of domination and servitude and pseudo-authenticity - are dissected in a subtle, bitter and funny way.
