Ilona Damięcka Berlin Trio

Ilona Damięcka - piano, vocals

Thiago Duarte - bass

Marc Michel - drums

As part of the Berlin Jazz Week, we present an international trio between two pulsating jazz metropolises: Berlin and Gdansk.

The Polish pianist, singer and composer Ilona Damięcka is one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary European jazz and we are delighted to be able to present her at the Brotfabrik as part of Jazz Week. Today she commutes between Gdansk and Berlin - both musically and geographically - and combines virtuoso skills and sensitive, deeply felt compositions in her playing. Trained at the Academy of Music in Katowice and influenced by her collaboration with greats such as Janusz Muniak, she developed her own artistic signature early on.

With several album releases - including her own works such as "Hope" - and numerous international collaborations, Damięcka moves between mainstream and free jazz. Her ability to combine singing and piano playing at the highest level is particularly remarkable.

For this project, she has teamed up with two outstanding representatives of the Berlin jazz scene:

Brazilian bassist Thiago Duarte and drummer Marc Michel are representatives of the young, top-class Berlin jazz scene, whose dynamic and sensitive playing lends the trio a special energy. Together they create a sound space that combines cultural influences and leaves room for spontaneous interaction.

A concert that transcends boundaries and makes jazz audible in all its diversity.
