ALWAYS CONTINUE to write. Reading and talk.
The long version of the story behind the facade and beyond stage humor: Thomas Steierer, author and winner of the Great Scharfrichterbeil for his cabaret program "Der urbane Dorfdepp," reads excerpts from his novel in rough draft ALWAYS FURTHER (working title), which will also be the basis for future stage activities.
It is about ambivalence in complex times, the Gordian knot between Oliver Kahn's meaningful perseverance mantra "Always on", hope and kicks on the one hand, and hamster wheel stagnation, that the last 40 years have passed furiously fast, fast-moving determines the zeitgeist, the beautiful moments are very fleeting and nothing really changes permanently for the better on the other.
Thomas Steierer's tragicomic text deals with questions that come to the fore at the latest after about 40 years of life, at midlife, such as: How has it gone so far, how do you go on, what highlights does life hold in store for you in the future, when will the impacts come even closer? Fears and traumas are discussed, feelings of happiness and dreams, everyday life between structure and routines as well as adversities, flashbacks and upheavals.
The moderator and literary critic Günter Keil usually talks to writers like T.C Boyle or Judith Hermann about their new bestsellers. This evening, the conversation with Thomas Steierer will also be about why one begins to write a novel, about the writing process and the difficulties associated with it. At the end, an outlook will be ventured. Spoiler: With an optimistic tenor. Nevertheless, it's worth continuing. Keep going.
