The first joint production by Pascal Marcel Dreier (assistant professor, Multispecies Storytelling, KHM) and Paula Maya Strunden deals with the (im)possibilities of putting oneself in the shoes of non-human beings. Based on kestrels, chickens and other feathered creatures, they explore the potential of XR (Extended Reality) to irritate and expand human patterns of perception and movement in a transformative way.
The event is characterized by this production process, which the artists have undergone in recent months as part of the Medienwerk NRW media art fellowship.
The program begins with flying exercises led by Paula Strunden. Pascal Marcel Dreier will give an insight into the artistic development process, which will be supplemented by short impulses from Leoni Fischer (Symbiotic Lab), curator of the project, and Nathan Schönewolf, 3D design.
Curator and birdwatcher Marjolein van der Loo (NL) will present her newly published book With a Bird, a Reader on Avian Kinship (Onomatopee, 2025) and then lead a discussion with the artists and Leoni Fischer.
With the kind support of the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.
