Indisches Tanztheater "Laudato Si - St. Franz von Assisi"

From June 18 to 21, the Kalahrdaya dance ensemble under the direction of the Jesuit priest Prof. Dr. Fr. Saju George S.J. will be a guest at St. Michael's in Cologne. Kalahrdaya "Heart for Art" is an educational institution for art and spirituality. Here, young people from socially disadvantaged families in particular receive professional training, for example in dance and music.

The highlight of the series of events surrounding the visit of the Kalahrdaya ensemble is the performance of an Indian dance drama to mark the 800th anniversary of the death of Francis of Assisi on Sunday, June 21, 2026 at 6 pm, also in St. Michael's. With the help of dance movements, facial expressions and gestures of classical Indian dance, Bharatanatyam, the ensemble portrays Francis of Assisi's life and tells of his love for nature, the disadvantaged in society, as well as peace and freedom.

In the morning at 11 a. m., there will be an opportunity to celebrate the service in St. Michael's together with Prof. Dr. Fr. Saju George S.J. and to learn more about the spiritual background of Kalahrdaya.
