Mainstream feminism focuses primarily on the concerns and experiences of white, privileged cis women and neglects the perspectives and challenges of women of color, queer and marginalized groups. The Town Hall Talk will therefore focus on intersectional perspectives on feminism.
FLINTA* people who would like to exchange ideas on this topic and discuss feminist and intersectional action together are invited. In a joint discussion round, the diverse facets of feminism will be explored. This will allow participants to share their own perspectives and experiences. In the end, the question arises as to how feminist ways of thinking, actions and realities are created that stand up against all forms of discrimination.
Whether as an individual or with a (feminist) organization/initiative, everyone* is invited to come together and network!
Coffee and cake will be provided.
The discussion will be led by Emilene Wopana Mudimu. As head of her own youth institution KingzCorner, racism-critical educational speaker, moderator and spoken word artist, she is actively involved in various initiatives and projects for BIPoC* communities and offers workshops on topics such as the politicization of Black bodies, deconstruction of Western beauty ideals and colorism. With her expertise, Dr. Rahab Njeri is also part of the discussion. She has been working as a consultant for racial criticism and anti-discrimination in the Gender & Diversity Management department at the University of Cologne for several years. She also works in the fields of intersectionality, postcolonialism, critical whiteness and gender.
