An evening between excess, friendship and British cult novel:

30 years after Trainspotting hit the cinemas, exceptional Scottish author Irvine Welsh reads from his legendary classic Trainspotting as well as from his new novel Men in Love - the long-awaited sequel to the story of Renton, Sick Boy, Spud and Begbie.

With his unmistakable sound of black humor, social impact and raw poetry, Irvine Welsh has influenced generations of readers. In Men in Love, he returns to the world of his iconic characters and tells of love, longing and self-destruction in Scotland in the late 1980s and accompanies the protagonists on their search for love, belonging and a way out of self-destruction and social hopelessness.

The evening will be hosted by Thorsten Nagelschmidt, singer of the band Muff Potter and a successful author himself. Two distinctive voices of contemporary culture will meet in conversation, between literature, pop and punk.

IRVINE WELSH, born in Leith near Edinburgh in 1957, writes novels and short stories and is considered one of the most important authors of underground literature. His debut novel "Trainspotting" and the film adaptation of the same name with Ewan McGregor made him internationally famous. Many more novels followed.

THORSTEN NAGELSCHMIDT, born in Rheine in 1976, is an author, musician and artist. He is the singer, lyricist and guitarist of the band Muff Potter and has published the books 'Wo die wilden Maden graben' (2007), 'Was kostet die Welt' (2010) and 'Drive-By Shots' (2015). His most recent novels are 'The Waste of Hearts' (2018), 'Work' (2020) and 'Members Only' (2025).
