Jesper Munk

Growing up in the Glockenbach district, Jesper Munk got off to a flying start as a teenager living in Munich. As a "blues wonder boy" (Deutschlandfunk), also known as a "blues aesthete" (Der Standard), he went on tour with Eric Burdon & The Animals. A great honor for the then 21-year-old, who caused quite a stir with his debut "For In My Way It Lies". However, things became even more turbulent two years later when his most successful album to date, "Claim", was released by major label Warner Music in 2015. More than 20,000 units have been sold worldwide and to date, around 15 million streams have been counted for the album's songs. For Jesper at his young age, however, it was also an ambivalent affair, all the hype, the full focus, all the expectations and ultimately also the pressure, as some media have already singled out the Munich "blues wonder" (Die Welt) somewhere between the Black Keys and the White Stripes as one of the saviors of the dusty genre.

On the occasion of the upcoming "Claim" anniversary in 2025, Jesper Munk has now returned to his early work from the first two albums and reflected on, analyzed and processed the experiences he had back then, which were not all good, which is why he finally wanted and was able to make peace with them. In the meantime, he had developed more in the direction of soul-crooner as a solo artist, but also gained experience in the areas of post-punk, noise and avant-garde with side projects such as Public Display Of Affection (P.D.O.A.) and Plattenbau. Nevertheless, there is one piece of good news in this return to his early roots, because all those who have been sorely missing their favorite songs at concerts will now get their money's worth again.

To mark the 10th anniversary of "Claim", there will be a double vinyl live edition in May 2025, which will be recorded live on July 11 and 12, 2024 at two best-of concerts in Munich's Milla, which is known to be located in the neighborhood where Jesper Munk grew up. Back to the roots, take off yeh
