With Joe Lovano and Julian Lage, two absolute world stars of jazz from two generations of jazz come together plus the rhythm section with Will Calhoun and Asante Santi Debriano, which can also be described as the gold standard.

To describe Joe Lovano as an "old master" would simply not do justice to the youthful exploratory drive with which he is constantly founding new bands and projects, finding new sounds and breaking new ground. He is definitely a giant of the tenor saxophone and plays with a confidence and attitude from a place that can probably only be occupied by a true grandmaster, always remaining true to the idea of improvisation, reinventing himself and always being 100% in the moment. Honest, uncompromising melodies born in the collective now are the result.

Julian Lage is no stranger here in Dortmund. He has already enchanted a sold-out domicil several times with his unique playing. The way he plays the guitar is very difficult to put into words. In an inexplicable way, he manages to make countless styles, especially blues, folk, jazz and rock, audible and perceptible in his playing at all times. He does justice to every playing tradition without resorting to hackneyed clichés. He has these sounds in him, combines them in a very personal and intimate approach and then transports them directly and unfiltered to the audience via the guitar. The sound that he elicits from this instrument is something that can only really be understood live. He kneads dynamics, time and phrasing in a way that no guitarist before him has ever done and probably never will again. Julian Lage is one of the most sensitive and musical players in the world. That is why it will be all the more exciting to experience him as a sideman and accompanist in this exciting project.

These two top soloists are more than just supported by a well-rehearsed rhythm section: Will Calhoun is a powerful drummer who can organize even very complex rhythms in such a way that they start to flow. The widely acclaimed drummer from the Bronx, New York is known, among other things, as the drummer of the two-time Grammy-winning rock band "Living Colour". Some people will remember how he helped open the current domicil in Hansastrasse with Orrin Evans around 20 years ago. The concert was recorded by WDR at the time. So we are looking forward to a reunion.

The Panamanian-born bassist Santi Debriano is not as well known in Europe as he should be. He has long played with legends such as Archie Shepp, who incidentally has often been a guest at domicil, and Sam Rivers, has appeared on more than 100 recordings and leads an exciting nonet in New York with the Arkestra Bembe, which plays many pieces from his production.
