KAMMERKONZERTE.KOELN: Duo Kravets-Kassung

In the organizer's words:

With the rare combination of cello and guitar, Lena Kravets and Tobias Kassung delight their audiences across Germany. Their latest program revolves around the theme of "Dream and Tango" and enchantingly combines dreamy nocturnes and adagios with the exuberant music from the nightlife of the metropolises.

Romantic nocturnes and adagios by Burgmüller, Glinka and Beethoven perfectly express the intimate, dreamy sound of cello and guitar. With Kassung's own new piece, a new aspect of the "dream" is added: the dream of peace, which is currently so topical. In three musical scenes, Kassung's work seduces us into the world of Arabic music, full of color, power, hope and longing. Raffaele Bellafrontes' tango brings exuberant life to life. And finally culminates in the "Quatre rêves" by Parisian composer Mathias Duplessy, who has set the exuberant nightlife of the French metropolis to rousing music in his four musical dreams. Music that is captivating, moving and simply a joy to listen to!
As part of our #henze2026 focus, the duo will also alternately combine works for solo guitar and solo cello by Hans Werner Henze in a block. In this way, Henze's complex music can also be experienced by a wide audience in an interesting and moving way.
