In the organizer's words:
Before it is built, it is cleared: more than 40 years of international avant-garde have left their mark on the Kampnagel Hallen. What remains of a place that is constantly reinventing itself? To explore this question, the Kampnagel Förderverein is holding an auction at the end of the summer festival. Starting in the fall, Kampnagel will be renovated under the direction of the Pritzker Prize-winning architecture duo LACATON & VASSAL from Paris under their motto KEEP, REPAIR, ADD. Some of the halls will continue to be used during the multi-year construction phase, and there will also be numerous urban projects and a performance on the site under the heading "performative construction site". Up to 20 objects will go under the hammer, including unique artistic pieces and technical finds as well as iconic remnants of past summer festival moments: a signed photo, a piece of Pina Bausch lawn, a Beuys oak sapling or the legendary festival swing tell of Kampnagel as a place of experimentation and encounters. Whoever bids not only takes home an object, but also a piece of memory and at the same time supports the future of this place.
