In the organizer's words:
How can a site under reconstruction be used artistically? How can a construction site itself become an art space - for artists, audiences and the city? From the very beginning, the curatorial team at Kampnagel was determined not to close down or move to an interim venue during the multi-year renovation. Keeping the building and grounds open to the public as much as possible and making the renovation process a "performative construction site" is part of the artistic self-image. But the city should also become a stage: Amelie Deuflhard and her team see enormous potential in the performance of public space, in the examination of transformation sites and in cooperation with other institutions. During the event, Amelie Deuflhard (artistic director), Anna Teuwen (dramaturgy), Luise März (dramaturgy), Lucien Lambertz (dramaturgy), Nadine Jessen (dramaturgy) and Siro Ali will provide insights into programmatic decisions that bring architecture, space and art into productive friction and show how temporary interventions can become long-term impulses for the city, the institution and artistic practice. Pre-registration is requested.
