KHM-HEIMSPIEL zeigt "Vergiss Meyn nicht"

The film series with debut films by KHM graduates shows the film about Steffen Meyn, who died in an accident in Hambach Forest on September 19, 2018. Fabiana Fragale, Kilian Kuhlendahl and Jens Mühlhoff, fellow students of the KHM student, made the film based on the 360° footage shot by Steffen Meyn together with the Cologne-based production company "Made in Germany".

"Vergiss Meyn nicht" (2023, 100 min.) celebrated its world premiere at the Berlinale last year; the documentary was then released in cinemas nationwide in September following a successful festival tour.
The KHM series "HEIMSPIEL" presents the film at the start of the 2024 summer semester in the university's own auditorium. Following the screening, Prof. Philip Scheffner will talk to the directors present.

Steffen Meyn died in 2018 when he fell from a tree house during the protests in Hambach Forest. "Vergiss Meyn Nicht" combines the footage he shot with a 360° helmet camera and interviews with environmentalists and asks how far activism has to go. Steffen Meyn's fellow students Fabiana Fragale, Kilian Kuhlendahl and Jens Mühlhoff made the film together with Cologne-based producer Melanie Andernach. They write about their film: " We follow Steffen up close via a 360° camera and, through his open and heartfelt perseverance, get to know activists who are prepared to put their bodies and their lives in opposition to the massive destruction of nature. Steffen is enthusiastic about the utopian togetherness, but also struggles to take a stance on the radical nature of the occupation. When the police operation begins in 2018, Steffen has found his purpose with the camera between the fronts. In the end, he has to pay with his life for the uncompromising way in which he pursues it. Steffen's extraordinary material and retrospective interviews with the activists who accompanied him over the last two years of his life provide personal insights and at the same time highlight the contradictions of an activist life: political effectiveness and self-sacrifice, police arbitrariness and militancy, utopia and painful reality."
