Kimono-Club der TKW

We cordially invite you to experience the art and beauty of kimono. We have two destinations this time: On Kyoto Day at the JKI and at the Cologne Museum Night, we will present kimono. Do you have a kimono at home that you haven't worn yet? We will give you the opportunity to present your kimono to the public. Please contact us!

Our newly founded Kimono Club cordially invites you to get to know us! We are a so far small group of employees of the Tenri Kulturwerkstatt and at the same time members of the Kimono-Club Düsseldorf, which already exists for more than 10 years. Now we want to found another club in Cologne and thereby introduce more people to the art and beauty of kimono.

You don't know how to wear a kimono?
No problem! Our club is as new as it is beginner friendly and we would be happy to learn more about kimono with you and practice dressing regularly. We are not experts ourselves and look forward to regular events where kitsuke are shown by real masters and interesting tips are given.

You don't have a kimono?
You don't need to! The club provides a selection of various kimono and accessories so that we can practice putting them on together step by step.
Those who already own kimonos and/or accessories are welcome to bring them to the club.

How to become a club member?
There are no prerequisites for our kimono club! So you don't have to be an expert in Japanese culture or even know what the difference is between a furisode and a yukata. Both beginners and advanced students of all ages are welcome. The main thing is that you are interested and have fun learning more about Japanese (clothing) culture and exchanging ideas with others in the club at regular meetings!

A maximum of 10 kimonos can be provided per date.
